The message tab is divided into two sections. On the left all conversations are shown, and on the right are the messages from the currently selected conversation.
The Flight Following log conversation is a permanent conversation, always listed at the top of the list of conversations.
Any time the trip manifest or on the ground reports are sent, those messages are added to the FF Log.
The Flight Follower contact is a special contact that represents your company’s v2Track account which a flight follower would monitor while performing flight following duties.
Passenger lists and ETAs are added to the Flight Follower conversation.
To add a new message to an existing conversation, select the conversation, and type the text in the message box, then tap Send.
Or you can select Quick Text, and choose from a list of quick text messages.
Quick text messages are defined in Company EFB Preferences, except for the “Request WX For” messages, which are automatically populated for each planned destination.
To create a new conversation, tap the pencil icon.
Next select the message recipient.
Remember, the Flight Follower recipient represents your company’s main page on the the v2Track website—messages to the Flight Follower will post there.
If you select V2 Contacts, you can select from a list of contacts that have been added to the v2Track website.
Messages to Aircraft are sent to other aircraft in your fleet that are equipped with a v2 tracker.
If you choose Address Book, the contacts from the Apple Contacts app on the iPad will be displayed.
Search and select the desired contact. You can select their email or phone number, which are listed separately.
Type your message and Send.
The text or email will be sent via v2Track messages. The recipient can respond by replying to your message.
Any time a message is received in the FlightSpan™ EFB, you need to acknowledge, reply, or dismiss the message.
If a message is pending on the v2 tracker but isn’t showing up in FlightSpan™, tap the resync button to force a recheck for messages.
You will be asked to confirm you want to resync.
Any message with a Needs Reply status will be cleared and resynced, and any pending messages will be pulled in. Previously acknowledged messages will not be affected.
Delete a conversation by tapping the trash can icon in the selected conversation.
Note: The FF Log cannot be individually deleted.
Delete all conversations by tapping the trash can icon on the left.
You will be asked to confirm you want to delete.
All conversations, including the FF Log, will be deleted.
