There are three sub tabs under the Depart tab – Flight Following, TakeOff Performance, and Runway Chart.
Flight Following
Connect to the v2track unit following the instructions in the Flight Following documentation.
The Trip Manifest will be prefilled with aircraft weight, center of gravity, passenger count, and fuel data from the W&B tab, and altitude from the Nav tab for the current flight leg.
Note that the passenger count reads the number of seats with occupants on the W&B tab and does not account for lap children—adjust the POB as necessary for lap children.
Tap Send to send the trip manifest via the connected v2 tracker.
The app will automatically switch to the TakeOff Performance tab. The Flight Following status will change to Manifest SENT when the Trip Manifest has been successfully transmitted to the v2Track servers.
On the Flight Following tab, the blue Send button will change to a green Resend button.
If you need to cancel the takeoff, tap the blue (Cancel Flight) link. If you select Yes, a v2Track cancellation message will be sent.
Note: See the Map Tab and Arrival Tab documentation for flight following procedures in flight and after landing.
Aircraft not Equipped with v2Track
If your aircraft is not equipped with a v2 tracker, change the Use v2 Tracker Aircraft Type EFB Preference to No.
On the Send Trip Manifest page, the Send button will be relabeled Arm Leg.
When you tap Arm Leg, the automatic features of FlightSpan™ are enabled:
- Automatic tab switching
- Automatic recording of ATD, ATA, Block Out, and Block In
Note: In helicopters, departure, arrival, and block times may be inaccurate since the iPad cannot sense hovering.
The following features will not be available:
- Record Engine Starts (DFR tab)
- Flight Following
- Send ETAs (Map tab)
- Mark Position (Map tab)
- Messaging (Message tab)
The app will automatically switch to the TakeOff Performance tab.
The Trip Manifest status will change to Leg Armed. All other procedures throughout the app remain the same.
